Gold teeth on a cat?

January 11th, 2010

Sebastian, a Persian cat with long black hair, sports gold crowns on his two large teeth, which grew sticking out from his lips in an underbite similar to a bulldog’s. Concerned that his cat’s exposed teeth could be damaged, Dr. David Steele a dentist from Alexandria, Ind., had gold crowns made for his pet cat. Dr. David Steele photo via The Herald-Bulletin.

Sticky Consistency of Nutrition Bars Harms Teeth

October 19th, 2009

We’re all busy, and most of us try to maintain some semblance of a healthy diet while we’re on the go. One of the handiest ways to keep your diet in check is to grab a nutrition or energy bar. Whether you’re looking to up your vitamin and mineral intake, get some protein or simply satiate hunger, these bars are often one of the quickest, simplest ways to do so. However, with ease comes some disadvantages.

While they may be good for your body as a whole, nutrition and energy bars can wreak havoc on the teeth. The sticky consistency of many of these bars makes it difficult for the mouth to wash away particles that can adhere to the teeth. Leftover food bits that remain in the mouth become fodder for bacteria, which begin to produce the acid that leads to tooth decay within 15 to 20 minutes after food fragments are present. “If you are unable to brush and floss, drink water. It helps dissolve any food left on your teeth” says Grove City Dentist, Dr. Brian Mitchell.

More blood donors needed to put “O” in O-H-I-O!

October 12th, 2009

This October blood donations in Central Ohio have dipped, causing levels of type O-negative blood, the universal type, to drop below sufficient levels. The local American Red Cross needs you on its team to help ensure the situation does not develop into an emergency, so that livesaving blood is available for patients when they need it.

Grove City Family Dentistry is stepping up and inviting our friends of the American Red Cross to join us at our Fall Festival, Saturday, October 31st: 9am-4pm. To schedule your blood donation at this event, please call our office today 614-875-2153!

O-H-I-O!!!

My husband and I think the world of GC Family Dentistry.

October 8th, 2009

To: Dr. Vincer, Hollie and staff

Friday morning I decided to see if I could make an appointment because I was having a lot of pain in my tooth. I called at 8am and was able to get an appointment for 8:30! Dr. Vincer and her assistant Hollie were wonderful. I’d never had a root canal before and I was terrified, but they took care of me and even put up with my tears. :) Today all the pain I was feeling is gone and it’s such a relief.

My husband and I think the world of GC Family Dentistry. From the Doctors and Hygienists to the reception and billing, we’re impressed with the entire staff. You have a team of genuinely caring and friendly people, and it really makes a difference. So, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you.

Sincerely,
Ty B.
